PATISSERIE D’OR
About Us
Patisserie D’Or is a small, family-owned French patisserie (bakery) featuring French Pastry Chef, Jean-Luc, as the creative talent, and Monica doing everything else, and the friendly face you see when you visit. We start every day at about 3 am, making all products from scratch, using only the finest ingredients, and firing up the oven to bake before our doors open.
EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY
Only The Finest Ingredients
Our customers deserve only the best and we are proud to offer the exceptional quality that has come to be expected from Patisserie D’Or. That means only the finest ingredients. Sweet, unsalted natural butter gives our croissants a wonderful flakey consistency that melts in your mouth. Quality chocolate is decadent and sensual. We use only pure chocolate couverture, not less expensive coating chocolate. Taste the difference that truly fine chocolate makes to any pastry. Typically, products from other bakeries are dosed with preservatives, artificial flavours and shortening. We don’t use them.
OUR STORY
Master Pastry Chef From Paris
Jean-Luc, born and raised in France, trained as a master pastry chef in Paris. After travelling the world and sampling culinary specialties, Jean-Luc migrated to Canada settling in Toronto where he worked as a pastry chef for 5-star hotels, refining his skills at every step. Monica started baking when she was a kid, finding joy in trying new recipes and winning baking contests year after year at the county fair. She went to George Brown College and trained formally as a baker, and then apprenticed in a 5-star hotel in Toronto. It was there that Jean-Luc and Monica met … and, as Jean-Luc would tell it … in the fridge! After 10 years, they were determined to do things their own way. They opened Patisserie D’Or in 1999, originally on Robinson St in downtown Oakville. Then in 2014, moved to their present location on Nottinghill Gate in the Glen Abbey community in Oakville.
